Massage, Dry Needling, Cupping & InfraRed Therapy

Remedial Massage

A deep massage performed to create the conditions for the body’s return to normal health after injury or due to general stress and tension. During treatment there may be tenderness in areas that are being treated. The therapist uses the patient’s feedback to pinpoint the damaged tissue and to regulate pressure. Treatment may include a combination of techniques such as trigger point, myofascial release, stretching, etc. Where appropriate, additional therapies may be incorporated including infrared heat, wet heat, dry needling, ice and/or TENs machine technology.

Traditional Eastern Cupping can also be utilised if so desired.  Cupping is a method of applying acupressure by creating a vacuum on the patient’s skin to dispel stagnant blood and lymph, thereby improving flow. The suction created through the cupping method loosens impacted nerve endings and restores them to their original state. The ‘marks’ often seen in cupping clients are not bruises but rather as a result of the fluid coming up to the surface of the skin before being dispersed. Cupping is an excellent way to increase circulation, remove adhesions and stimulate the nervous system.

Bamboo Massage

Bamboo massage is a technique that incorporates bamboo stalks of varying lengths and diameters to provide deep-tissue work. The treatment promotes circulation, sensory nerve perception, and lymphatic drainage and provides a deep sense of relaxation and well-being.

The outer cell walls of bamboo are covered with silica which creates a crystalline-like matrix, much like that of a quartz crystal or our own connective tissue. As a result, recipients of bamboo massage often describe their treatment as a whole-body tingling or a warming sensation.

Reflexology for Feet

Reflexology is based on the principle that congestion or tension in any part of the foot mirrors congestion or tension in a corresponding part of the body.
These parts, known as reflex points, are found on the soles of the feet. Reflexology is a non-intrusive technique, healing indirectly and works on many levels, soothing, calming, balancing and boosting the entire body.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage for Face & Body

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle whole body treatment that relaxes the nervous system and aids to increase the body’s immune system. It is a gentle treatment which is intended to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph which carries waste products away from the tissues back toward the heart.

When the lymphatic system doesn’t work efficiently, the tell-tale signs of oedema or tight swollen tissue appear.  MLD is particularly good for detoxification, after chemotherapy/radiation, reducing inflammation & swelling, blue bruising, fluid retention, or oedema, pre- and post-plastic surgery and post-liposuction. It can also help with cellulite treatments, scar tissue, spider veins, redness and acne. MLD on the face has anti ageing benefits by reducing puffiness and redefining the jawline, and can also assist with decongesting acne prone skin. It also helps to drain the sinuses, relieving sinus pressure from allergies and colds.

At Botanique we use a combination of both manual therapy (hands) as well as the Carlton Pneumopulse machine to achieve optimum results.
